Does this guide apply to your appliance?
Match the brand, device type and complete display code. The same code can mean something different on another product family or market; a series name does not confirm every model in that series.

Likely causes
- Using non-HE (non-high-efficiency) laundry detergent
- Adding too much detergent or using oversized pre-measured detergent pacs
- Using 'no-splash' or 'easy-pour' chlorine bleach containing foam-generating thickening agents
- Detergent and softener residue buildup in the tub
- A kinked, restricted, or improperly installed drain hose or standpipe
What to try
Allow the suds reduction routine to complete
Easy- Do not press Cancel immediately; allow the washer to continue its automated suds-reduction routine.
- Wait while the washer pauses tumbling and adds water to break down foam bubbles.
- When the cycle finishes, check the laundry load to see if clothes remain damp or soapy.
- If suds or excess water remain in the drum, run an additional Rinse & Spin cycle without adding detergent.
Correct detergent type and clean tub residue
Easy- Verify that only High-Efficiency (HE) detergent is used in the machine.
- Reduce detergent quantity according to load size, water hardness, and package instructions, especially for concentrated (2x to 8x) detergents.
- Avoid using 'no-splash' or 'easy-pour' liquid chlorine bleaches, as thickening agents generate excessive foam.
- Run an empty Clean Washer cycle using affresh washer cleaner or regular chlorine bleach to clear detergent residue from the tub and outer drum.
Inspect the drain hose and standpipe
Moderate- Turn off the washer and disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet.
- Inspect the external drain hose behind the washer for kinks, pinches, or sharp bends.
- Verify that the standpipe (drainpipe) meets height requirements (minimum 39 inches, maximum 96 inches) and is not clogged.
- Ensure the drain hose is not taped airtight into the standpipe or inserted too deeply, which can cause siphoning or slow draining.
- Reconnect power and run a test Rinse & Spin cycle to confirm normal water drainage.
This step is marked caution. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.
