Privacy policy
FaultGuide requires no account and never asks for personal details to use the site. This page explains what information is still collected while you browse, why, and what you can do about it.
Information collected while you browse
The web server, our security and attack-protection provider, and measurement services may receive your IP address, browser and device type, preferred language, access times, the pages you view, and the referring page. This is used for security, abuse prevention, understanding site performance, and improving the content. The site's own page-view counter stores aggregate numbers only and does not store IP addresses.
Site searches
When you search for a code that does not have a page yet, the search text is stored as aggregate demand together with your browser language and the referring site's domain. It is used to decide which pages to research and publish, and it is not linked to an IP address or an identity. Please do not type personal details into the search box.
Cookies and local storage
- Essential cookies: a session cookie and a security token needed to run and protect the site.
- Language preference: when you pick a language with the flag switch, a cookie remembers your choice.
- Measurement: Google Analytics cookies, described below.
- Advertising: cookies set by Google and other third-party ad vendors, described below.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may break some features.
Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they come from. It is configured not to use Google Signals or advertising personalisation signals. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent measurement with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising, Google AdSense, and third-party cookies
The site may display ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- How Google uses cookies in advertising: Google advertising policies.
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services: Google partner sites information.
In regions that require prior consent, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, personalised ads are shown only after you consent through a consent tool, and you can change your choice at any time.
