Editorial policy
This page explains how FaultGuide error-code pages and guides are researched, written, checked, and corrected — and where the line sits between a safe owner check and a job for a professional.
Sources
The preferred source is always official manufacturer information: owner and installation manuals, support pages, and code lists published by the manufacturer. When official information is not enough, recognised professional sources are used and cited. A page is published only when at least two sources are kept for it, at least one of them verified during research. The sources are listed at the bottom of every fault page.
Use of AI
AI tools help gather initial information, summarise sources, draft the text, and translate it into Hebrew. Using these tools is not treated as verification. Every draft must pass a quality gate before publication; a draft that fails stays off the site and out of the sitemap.
The quality gate
- Clear identity: a real manufacturer, device type, and code. Generic drafts such as "unknown error" are rejected.
- Sources: a minimum number of references, including one verified at research time.
- Complete structure: what the code means, likely causes, ordered steps, and a safety warning where needed.
- Safety: instructions to bypass protective devices, open energised parts, or handle gas or refrigerant are rejected.
- Score threshold: a page below the minimum quality score is not published automatically.
Safety
The site only describes checks an owner can perform safely, such as checking taps, cleaning an accessible filter, or resetting the appliance as the manufacturer describes. Always disconnect power before any check, and turn off the water supply on water-connected appliances. Any work on gas, on internal wiring or electrical components, or on the refrigeration system and refrigerant requires a qualified, licensed technician. If you notice a gas smell, a burning smell, smoke, sparks, or water near electrical parts, stop immediately and call a professional.
Corrections and updates
Error reports are checked against the cited sources and current official information. Anything that could affect safety is handled first, and such a page may be unpublished until it is fixed. When a page is updated, the "Updated" date at the top of the page changes. Report a problem through the contact page — include the page address, the appliance model, and what looks wrong.
Searches without an answer yet
Searching for a code that is not on the site does not create an empty page. The search is recorded as demand, and a new page may appear only after research and after it passes the quality gate.
Advertising and independence
The site may display advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are labelled and kept separate from the content. Advertisers and manufacturers do not pay for explanations, do not approve them in advance, and do not influence their conclusions. FaultGuide is not affiliated with any manufacturer mentioned on the site.
