Does this guide apply to your appliance?
Match the brand, device type and complete display code. The same code can mean something different on another product family or market; a series name does not confirm every model in that series.
No exact model number is recorded here. Confirm the code in your appliance manual before following a check.
Likely causes
- A frozen water-inlet hose or supply faucet
- A frozen drain hose or drain path
- Frozen water in the tub or drain-pump area
- A washer installed or operated in very cold conditions
- A temperature sensor, drain pump, wiring, or control problem if FF remains after thawing
What to try
Thaw a frozen tub or drain path
Easy- Stop the washer and remove the laundry. If standing water is present, remove it only if this can be done safely without opening panels or contacting electrical parts.
- Add 50–60°C (122–140°F) warm water to the tub.
- Wait 1–2 hours for the frozen area to thaw.
- Try Spin/Spin Only or Rinse + Spin, if those options are available on your model.
- Do not use boiling water because it can cause burns or damage components.
This step is marked caution. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.
Thaw the faucet and water or drain hoses
Easy- Inspect the water faucets, inlet hoses, and accessible drain hose for signs of freezing.
- Warm a frozen faucet or hose with warm/hot water or a warm towel; do not use boiling water.
- If an inlet hose is disconnected, confirm that water flows from the faucet before reconnecting it.
- Reconnect the hose only after it has completely thawed.
- Retry the washer after the water supply and drain path are thawed.
This step is marked caution. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.
Allow natural warming and retry
Easy- Turn the washer off and leave it in an area that can warm naturally above 0°C (32°F).
- Wait until the washer, hoses, faucet, and drain path are fully thawed.
- Try a normal cycle or an available drain, spin, or rinse-and-spin function.
- If FF returns, do not repeatedly operate the washer; arrange service.
Arrange professional service when thawing does not resolve FF
ProfessionalThis is a service referral, not a do-it-yourself repair procedure.
- Request LG or qualified appliance service if FF remains after the washer and hoses are fully thawed.
- Request service if FF appears during normal indoor temperatures.
- Request service if the washer will not fill, drain, or operate after thawing.
- Do not remove panels or attempt to test the drain pump, sensor, wiring, or control board yourself.
This step is marked professional. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.
