Does this guide apply to your appliance?
Match the brand, device type and complete display code. The same code can mean something different on another product family or market; a series name does not confirm every model in that series.

Likely causes
- Using non-HE (high-efficiency) detergent
- Using too much detergent or oversized detergent pacs
- Using no-splash or easy-pour bleach with thickening agents
- Restricted drain hose or clogged drain pump filter
- Faulty pressure switch or pressure hose restriction
What to try
Allow the Automatic Suds Reduction Routine to Complete
Easy- Leave the washer running when 'Sud' or 'Sd' displays on the panel.
- Allow the machine to pause agitation and perform additional rinse cycles to clear the excess foam.
- If the cycle finishes and foam remains, run a Rinse & Spin cycle without adding any additional detergent.
- Run an empty Clean Washer or Affresh cycle with hot water after the load is finished to purge remaining detergent residue.
Adjust Detergent Type and Dosage
Easy- Verify that your laundry detergent packaging displays the 'HE' (High Efficiency) logo.
- Avoid using non-HE detergents, hand soaps, or dish detergents in the appliance.
- Reduce dosage according to load size, soil level, and detergent concentration level (e.g., 2x, 4x, or 8x).
- Avoid using 'no-splash' or 'easy-pour' liquid chlorine bleaches containing suds-producing thickening agents.
Inspect the Drain Line and Pump Filter
Moderate- Power off the washing machine and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Check the external drain hose behind the washer for kinks, pinches, or blockages.
- Ensure the drain hose is not pushed too far down into the standpipe (it should not exceed 4.5 to 7 inches depending on model specifications).
- If your model features an accessible lower drain pump filter access door, place a shallow pan and towels underneath, unscrew the filter cap, remove debris, and replace the cap securely.
- Plug the machine back in and run a test Drain & Spin cycle.
This step is marked caution. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.
