Does this guide apply to your appliance?
Match the brand, device type and complete display code. The same code can mean something different on another product family or market; a series name does not confirm every model in that series.

Likely causes
- Hot or cold water supply valves are closed or only partially turned on
- Water inlet hoses are kinked, pinched, or damaged
- Mineral deposits or sediment clogging the inlet valve mesh screens
- Anti-flood or flood-safe supply hoses restricting water pressure
- Drain hose siphoning water out due to improper standpipe height or deep insertion
- Defective water inlet valve or pressure sensor failure
What to try
Clear the Error and Run Drain Routine
Easy- If the door is locked and controls are unresponsive, press the Power button once to cancel the cycle.
- Allow the machine to complete its automatic drain routine, which runs the drain pump continuously for approximately 8 to 10 minutes.
- Do not press additional buttons or force the door open while the pump is running.
- Once draining finishes and the door unlocks, unplug the washer from the wall outlet or switch off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes to reset the control board.
- Restore power and attempt a short cycle to see if the machine fills normally.
Inspect Water Supply Valves and Hoses
Easy- Verify that both the hot and cold water shut-off valves at the wall are turned completely on; Whirlpool washers require both lines connected and flowing.
- Check behind the washer to verify the hot supply connects to the hot (red) inlet and cold connects to the cold (blue) inlet.
- Inspect the full length of both supply hoses to ensure they are not kinked, crushed, or sharply bent behind the cabinet.
- If flood-safe or anti-flood shut-off hoses are installed, replace them with standard braided stainless-steel hoses, as anti-flood devices can restrict pressure and trigger false fill errors.
Clean Water Inlet Valve Filter Screens
Moderate- Unplug the washing machine from the electrical outlet.
- Turn off both the hot and cold water supply valves completely.
- Place a shallow bucket or towel underneath the hose connections at the back of the washer.
- Carefully unscrew the fill hoses from the water inlet valve ports on the back of the machine.
- Inspect the small mesh filter screens seated inside the washer inlet connections for sediment, rust, or mineral scale.
- Carefully clean the screens with a soft brush or rinse them under running water; replace damaged screens.
- Reattach the supply hoses securely by hand and tighten slightly with pliers without over-tightening or cross-threading.
- Turn the water supply valves back on fully, check for leaks, and plug the power cord back into the wall.
This step is marked caution. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.
Check Drain Hose Installation to Prevent Siphoning
Easy- Inspect the drain hose connection at the standpipe or laundry tub.
- Ensure the drain hose is not inserted more than 4.5 inches (114 mm) into the drain pipe.
- Verify the standpipe or laundry sink height is at least 39 inches (99 cm) above the floor level.
- Ensure the connection around the drain pipe is not sealed airtight with tape, allowing an air gap so water does not siphon out while the machine fills.
