Does this guide apply to your appliance?

Match the brand, device type and complete display code. The same code can mean something different on another product family or market; a series name does not confirm every model in that series.

Likely causes

  • Hot and cold water supply hoses connected in reverse (swapped)
  • Cold water supply hose connected to a hot water tap
  • Household plumbing delivering hot water to the cold supply line
  • Faulty water inlet valve or defective temperature sensor

What to try

Verify and swap water supply hose connections

Easy
  1. Power off the washing machine and disconnect it from the electrical supply.
  2. Turn off both the hot and cold water shut-off valves at the wall.
  3. Inspect the supply hoses at the back of the washer: ensure the cold tap (usually blue) connects to the cold inlet valve and the hot tap (usually red) connects to the hot inlet valve.
  4. Carefully unscrew the hose couplings and swap them if they are connected backwards.
  5. Hand-tighten the couplings firmly onto the correct inlets, then secure an additional quarter-turn with pliers if necessary.
  6. Turn both water supply valves back on and check for leaks.
  7. Plug the washer back into electrical power, start a cold cycle, and verify if the 4C2 error clears.

Check tap water temperature and inlet filter screens

Moderate
  1. Turn off the water supply taps at the wall and disconnect the washing machine from power.
  2. Disconnect the cold water supply hose from the machine and direct it into a bucket.
  3. Turn the cold water supply tap on briefly to verify that the water flowing out is genuinely cold and not hot from a plumbing cross-feed.
  4. Inspect the small mesh filter screen inside the cold water inlet valve on the back of the machine for sediment or blockages, then clean it gently with water.
  5. Reattach the hose securely, turn the supply valves fully open, restore power, and restart the cycle.
  6. If the taps and hoses are verified correct but the error persists, isolate power and contact a qualified service technician to test the internal thermistor or valve assembly.

This step is marked caution. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.

The code returned or the check did not help?

Avoid repeated resets and do not select a replacement part from the code alone. Record the exact code, full model number, when it appeared, and the checks you tried with their results. Share these details with the manufacturer or service technician.

Disconnecting power does not establish that internal components are safe to touch. This guide does not authorize opening electrical components or bypassing safety devices.
