Does this guide apply to your appliance?
Match the brand, device type and complete display code. The same code can mean something different on another product family or market; a series name does not confirm every model in that series.

Likely causes
- Unbalanced or tangled laundry load during the spin cycle
- Worn drive motor carbon brushes
- Defective motor bearings or failed drive motor
- Loose or damaged wiring between the motor and control unit
- Faulty electronic motor control module
What to try
Redistribute the drum load and power reset
Easy- Switch off the washing machine and disconnect the plug from the mains electrical socket [2.1.6].
- Leave the appliance disconnected for the reset interval specified in its manual. Do not open or touch internal electrical components.
- Open the drum and check the laundry load.
- Separate tangled garments and evenly distribute heavy items such as bath towels, blankets, or jeans.
- Ensure the drum is neither severely overloaded nor underloaded with a single heavy item.
- Reconnect power, close the door, and run a short spin or drain cycle to see if the cycle finishes normally.
Perform the dial reset sequence (supported models)
Easy- Close the washing machine door and set the programme dial to '0' (Off) [2.1.5].
- Press and hold the top two option buttons (typically Soak and Pre-wash) simultaneously.
- While continuing to hold both buttons, turn the programme selector counter-clockwise to the delicate spin setting.
- Release both buttons and continue rotating the selector counter-clockwise all the way back round to '0' / Off (nearly a full turn).
- Turn the appliance on and test by starting a standard wash cycle.
- Important: Perform this reset sequence only once; repeated resets without repairing underlying motor defects can accelerate motor wear.
Arrange professional motor and carbon brush service
ProfessionalThis is a service referral, not a do-it-yourself repair procedure.
- Disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply and turn off the water supply.
- Stop running wash cycles if the C9 code persists after a single reset attempt [2.1.7].
- Contact Electrolux Customer Care or an authorised appliance technician.
- Have the technician inspect the drive motor, examine the carbon brushes for wear, inspect bearings, and check control board traces.
This step is marked professional. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.
