Does this guide apply to your appliance?

Match the brand, device type and complete display code. The same code can mean something different on another product family or market; a series name does not confirm every model in that series.

Likely causes

  • Detergent overdosing relative to laundry load size
  • Using non-HE (high-efficiency) or low-quality detergent prone to high sudsing
  • Soft water conditions increasing suds volume
  • Washing lightly soiled garments with a standard detergent dosage
  • Detergent residue buildup in the dispenser drawer or drainage path

What to try

Dissipate excess suds and run a clearing cycle

Easy
  1. Wait for the appliance to complete any automatic foam-reduction cycles, or pause the wash program to let the suds collapse.
  2. If heavy foam persists, Bosch recommends mixing 1 tablespoon of fabric softener with approximately 500 ml (2 cups) of water and pouring it into dispenser compartment II to break foam tension (do not use for down or sportswear).
  3. Select and run an empty Rinse & Spin or Drum Clean cycle without adding any detergent.
  4. Open the door once completed and wipe down the rubber door seal (gasket) and glass to remove foam residues.
  5. Reduce your detergent dosage on subsequent loads, particularly in soft-water areas or for lightly soiled laundry.

Clean the detergent dispenser drawer and pump filter

Moderate
  1. Turn off the washing machine and disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet.
  2. Press down the central release latch on the detergent drawer, slide it out completely, and wash away soap scum under warm running tap water.
  3. Place towels and a shallow container beneath the service flap at the bottom front of the machine.
  4. Open the service flap, use the emergency drain hose (if equipped) to drain residual water, then unscrew the drain pump filter cap counterclockwise.
  5. Clean out any lint or congealed detergent from the pump filter and ensure the impeller turns freely.
  6. Reinstall the filter cap securely so the handle is vertical, close the flap, reinstall the detergent drawer, and reconnect power.

This step is marked caution. Stop if you are not qualified to continue.

The code returned or the check did not help?

Avoid repeated resets and do not select a replacement part from the code alone. Record the exact code, full model number, when it appeared, and the checks you tried with their results. Share these details with the manufacturer or service technician.

Disconnecting power does not establish that internal components are safe to touch. This guide does not authorize opening electrical components or bypassing safety devices.
